JDRF Introduces New Volunteer Program: Tomorrow's Cure Starts with YOU today!

Designed to best utilize the time and talents of JDRF families and friends across all areas of the organization, JDRF is thrilled to introduce the Austin chapter's new volunteer program.

Discover how you can make a difference in JDRF as a part of an enthusiastic, dedicated committee and contributing in an area that is most meaningful and rewarding for you.

By attending a JDRF Orientation, you'll learn first hand what committee opportunities are available and how each committee will work within JDRF and the Austin chapter to help promote the mission of the organization to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

No matter if your time is limited to only a few hours, or you're looking for a leadership position that will allow you to get involved at a higher level, as a JDRF volunteer on at least one committee your contributions will make a difference.

2009 Volunteer Committees include:
*Outreach
*Government Relations
*Special Events Committee
*Volunteer Relations
*Office Support

For more information about the roles and responsibilities of each committee, please visit the Get Involved page.

Contact Melissa Ray, JDRF Volunteer Coordinator at mray@jdrf.org to sign up to attend Orientation or call 343-0663. Bring a friend!

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the world's leading nonprofit, nongovernmental sponsor of diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes-a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million to diabetes research worldwide. We are proud to say that more than 80% of every dollar goes directly to research and research education. Our mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Our chapter is growing by leaps and bounds in one of the most vibrant cities in the country. Austin is known as the live music capital of the world and has a style and energy all its own. That energy is reflected in the enthusiasm and support shown by the community in our search for a cure for diabetes.

JDRF is dedicated to raising funds for research, and in Austin we are doing this through a highly successful Walk, a Golf Tournament, and our annual Gala.

We always have a great time, and the entire community is invited to get involved!
