The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the world’s leading nonprofit,
nongovernmental sponsor of diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents
of children with juvenile diabetes—a disease which strikes children suddenly,
makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating
complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million to
diabetes research worldwide. We are proud to say that more than 80% of every
dollar goes directly to research and research education. Our mission is constant:
to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Our chapter is growing by leaps and bounds in one of the most vibrant cities
in the country. Austin is known as the live music capital of the world and has
a style and energy all its own. That energy is reflected in the enthusiasm and
support shown
by the community in our search for a cure for diabetes.
JDRF is dedicated to raising funds for research, and in Austin we are doing this
through a highly successful Walk, a Golf Tournament, and our annual Gala.
We always have a great time, and the entire community is invited to get involved!
